Dr. Bauer earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Northern Arizona University, before achieving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ. Dr. Bauer has a deep passion for providing compassionate, fear-free care and is Fear Free Certified. She always strives to reduce anxiety and stress during patient visits, enjoying the time and patience it takes to gain the trust of even the most nervous or aggressive pets. She also has a strong passion for dentistry and is often attending additional training and educational lectures from our local dentistry specialists.
When she’s not helping your furry family feel better, you’ll find her enjoying quality time with her fiancé Jim, their beloved dog Bunny, and their new crazy kitten named Pigeon. She’s always trying out new arts and crafts and loves to hike and camp across Northern Arizona.

Dr. Hayter is the owner and medical director of Desert Forest Animal Hospital and does not often see patients in this clinic. Dr. Hayter grew up in Tustin, California, and earned a Master’s degree in Fine Arts prior to becoming a veterinarian. He published poetry in several national publications before his love of animals led him to pursue his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Auburn University where his interests included internal medicine, dentistry, and dermatology. He was fortunate enough to enjoy the opportunity to intern at the prestigious San Diego Zoo where he worked with all manner of species, including a panda bear, a cheetah, a cougar, and a polar bear. Dr. Hayter and his wife, Catherine, are the proud parents of three young children, two dogs, and ten chickens.
