“I love the care and concern all the staff has for both Boots and Squirt. This is a special place.”

Choosing a veterinarian is personal. Families want to know that their pets will be treated with compassion, that medical recommendations will be explained clearly, and that the people caring for them will take the time to understand the individual animal.
Desert Forest Animal Hospital has cared for dogs and cats in Cave Creek and surrounding North Valley communities since 1984. We are grateful when clients share their experiences with our doctors, veterinary technicians, and support team.
The comments below are excerpts from recent Google reviews from families who have visited our hospital. Individual experiences vary, and veterinary recommendations are always based on each pet’s medical needs.

“I would most definitely recommend this great place to anyone searching for an environment that was calming, loving and accepting of your animal. Our animals were first timers and were very relaxed and had no anxiety whatsoever.”

“Once I saw how caring and personalized the care was, I decided to switch over and take my cat here. Dr. Bauer suggested a simple stain that gave us an immediate answer, explained our treatment options, and discussed both in-house surgery and specialist referral if needed.”
“Stephanie, the vet tech, was also amazing with my cat, especially considering he’s not the biggest fan of the vet. I will 100% be coming back here for all my vet needs.”

“The team at Desert Forest Animal Hospital always takes such good care of my super-aging pup. Even when he just comes in for a nail grind and paw-pad trim, they do a little mini checkup to ensure he’s as comfortable as possible.”

“Our lab mix Ranger got bitten by a rattlesnake on a trail near Cave Creek and we were panicking. We called and they told us exactly what to do on the way in and had a team ready when we pulled up.”
“Dr. Hayter was calm, clear about what treatment involved and what it would cost, and never made us feel rushed. Ranger pulled through and someone from the office followed up two days later to see how he was doing.”

“We have always brought our dogs here. We are so fortunate that they explain everything, they help us make the best decisions, and they take the best care.”
“It means the world to be able to trust the well-being of our animals to them. Everyone from the front office staff to the techs and the doctors are amazing.”

Client experiences are different because pets are different. Some families first meet us during a puppy or kitten visit. Others come to us with a senior pet, chronic skin disease, dental concerns, a nervous animal who struggles with veterinary visits, or an unexpected illness or injury.
Our goal is to combine thoughtful veterinary medicine with clear communication and individualized care for dogs and cats from Cave Creek, Carefree, Desert Mountain, North Scottsdale, Tatum Ranch, Terravita, Desert Hills, Anthem, and surrounding North Valley communities.
Our veterinary services include preventive and wellness care, veterinary dentistry, diagnostic testing, surgery, senior-pet care, dermatology, and evaluation of many unexpected illnesses and injuries during regular hospital hours.
For nervous or fearful patients, Quinn Bauer, DVM is a Fear Free Certified veterinarian, and our team incorporates Fear Free veterinary principles whenever they can be used safely and appropriately.
If you are looking for a veterinary team that takes time to understand your pet, explain treatment options, and build a long-term relationship with your family, we would be glad to meet you.
