Cave Creek, AZ 85331
We welcome families from Carefree Town Center, neighborhoods around Black Mountain, the Carefree Desert Gardens area and the surrounding Sonoran Desert foothills.
Our Cave Creek location allows Carefree families to receive preventive, medical and urgent veterinary care from one familiar team without presenting the hospital as a second Carefree business location.
Our medical recommendations are made locally by the professionals evaluating your pet. We explain findings, treatment choices and expected costs so owners can make informed decisions.
Desert Forest Animal Hospital has cared for generations of dogs and cats from Cave Creek and Carefree. We understand the environmental and lifestyle considerations associated with living in the Sonoran Desert.
Dr. Quinn Bauer is trained to recognize signs of fear, anxiety and stress. Depending on the patient, she may use acclimation time, positive reinforcement, modified handling, pre-visit medication or sedation when it provides the safest and most humane care.
LEARN ABOUT FEAR FREE VETERINARY CARE
We care for puppies, kittens, adults and seniors. Recommendations change as your pet’s health, behavior, activity and medical needs change.
Routine examinations allow us to assess your pet’s overall health, review vaccinations and parasite prevention, monitor weight and discuss nutrition, behavior and lifestyle.
PET WELLNESS EXAMS NEAR CAREFREE
First-year visits may include physical examinations, vaccinations, parasite evaluation, nutrition counseling, microchipping and discussions about socialization and spay or neuter timing.
Vaccination plans are selected according to the individual pet’s age, health, lifestyle, travel and exposure risk.
We provide oral examinations, anesthetic dental cleanings, dental X-rays and treatment of painful or diseased teeth when medically appropriate.
In-house blood work, urinalysis and digital radiographs help our veterinarians investigate illness, establish baselines and monitor chronic conditions.
VETERINARY DIAGNOSTICS & BLOOD WORK
PET X-RAYS & DIGITAL RADIOLOGY
Our surgical services for dogs and cats include individualized preoperative assessment, anesthesia planning, monitoring and pain management.
We evaluate paw licking, itching, ear infections, hair loss and recurring skin disease. Targeted testing helps distinguish allergies, infection, parasites and other conditions.
Older pets may benefit from more frequent examinations, laboratory screening, dentistry, nutrition support and individualized arthritis or chronic-disease management.
We help owners evaluate commercial, whole-food and properly formulated home-prepared diets and create realistic weight-management plans.
Desert Forest Animal Hospital evaluates sudden illness and injury during regular business hours when staffing, case volume and the patient’s needs allow.
We are not a 24-hour emergency hospital. Call (480) 488-2010 before arriving so we can assess the situation and confirm whether our hospital or a 24-hour emergency facility is the safest destination.
Urgent concerns may include vomiting, diarrhea, wounds, ear or eye pain, sudden lameness, urinary symptoms, allergic reactions and other unexpected changes. Difficulty breathing, collapse, uncontrolled bleeding, complete inability to urinate, severe trauma, suspected poisoning and rattlesnake bites require immediate veterinary attention.
We stock rattlesnake antivenom for dogs and cats.
